Building Control England & Wales

Building Control is an umbrella term covering all Local Authority Building Control Departments in England & Wales. These Departments have a statutory duty to enforce Building Regulations. The Building Regulations are designed to ensure the highest standards of construction apply to all buildings, and that the health and safety of people using and working in and around buildings is adequately provided for. These regulations are intended to protect the health and safety of people working in and around buildings. This includes accessing means of escape in the event of fire, fire detection, alarm systems, structural stability and so on. The Building Control service is, therefore, an integral part of the construction process.

On this site you will find an electronic database of all the Local Authority Building Control Offices in England and Wales. You can also find regulations, technical content, files for download, information and tools to assist in the application process. The aim is to facilitate communication to and from your local Building Control Office.
