 Building Control Northern Ireland
'Building Control Northern Ireland' is an umbrella organisation for the Building Control Departments of District Councils in Northern Ireland. District Councils have a statutory duty to enforce Building Regulations and they do this through their Building Control Departments.
The Building Regulations are designed to ensure the highest standards of construction apply to all buildings, and that the health and safety of people using and working in and around buildings is adequately provided for. The Building Control service is, therefore, an integral part of the construction process. Building Control Northern Ireland exists to ensure that this service is properly co-ordinated and that the Regulations are applied uniformly and consistently by the various Councils.
On this site you will find an electronic database of all Building Control Offices in Northern Ireland plus regulations, technical content, files for download, information and tools to assist in the application process. The aim is to facilitate communication to and from your local Building Control Office.

average radon level to be 19 Bq/m³ but showed significantly higher levels in parts of
counties Armagh and Down. A further survey of radon levels (2*), in some 1165
dwellings, in 1993, concentrated on the south-eastern area.
